Southern Hills Early Childhood Program (SHECP) is a faith-based preschool program serving infants through pre-kindergarten. SHECP also provides after-school care for school-aged children. With our Intentional Learning Structure, we nurture confidence, creativity, and compassion for our children. SHECP staff and SHUMC work as a community to celebrate the love of learning, resourcefulness, and independence.
OUR PRESCHOOL
At SHECP, we utilize an “Intentional Learning Structure,” which is designed to nurture confidence, creativity, and compassion in the children we serve. Our amazing staff guide children through a curriculum that makes learning a natural progression. We also offer an “Enrichment Program,” providing children with an introduction to math skills and Spanish.
The staff of SHECP and Southern Hills United Methodist Church (SHUMC) work as a community to celebrate the love of learning, resourcefulness, and independence. SHECP students are continuously on the move the entire day on the SHUMC campus, which provides a safe environment for our children. Our beautiful campus offers a courtyard, gym, playground, and plenty of common areas for children to explore. Also, weekly chapel is presented by the SHUMC church staff.
During the summer, SHECP offers weekly walking trips to Southland Park and Southland Pool, splash days, bounce houses, and other fun summertime activities. This allows us to place a greater emphasis on physical activity, which is at the heart of our curriculum all year round.
OUR AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM
Throughout the school year, SHECP offers an after-school program. During the school year and school-age summer camp. Students participating in this program can expect a schedule that includes snacks, center time, and gym activities for the afternoon.
As an extension of our after-school program, SHECP offers summer camps for school-aged children. During these summer camps, our school-aged children go on field trips and enjoy other fun outdoor activities.
FEES
- Annual Family Registration Fee of $75.00
- Yearly Activity Fee of $85.00 (per student)
- Second Child / SHUMC Congregation Member / University of Kentucky Employee – Discount of 10% on oldest child.
